Moving In

Spring Move-in: Friday January 3 - Saturday January 4

Students will be assigned move in appointments. Appointments will be emailed starting November 27.

Students Assigned to Tamiami Hall

Tamiami Hall uses contactless technology for card access. Before move in, you will need to make sure you have a Tamiami OneCard. Please go to the OneCard office located in the 1st floor of the Gold Garage and request to have your OneCard changed to a Tamiami OneCard.

Day of Check-in

Before arriving on campus, please complete the Online Check-In:

  • Go to my.fiu.edu
  • Click Student Tools
  • Click Student Housing
  • Select Spring Check-in

Once this is completed, the student should show the confirmation at the front desk to receive their key. This will also activate their OneCard, allowing them to swipe into their assigned building and the entry door to their unit.

Step-by-step Move-in Process

Step 1: Please download and read the Welcome Book linked below. It contains crucial details about move-in, like important dates, packing list, a campus map, and more. You can find your specific assignment information on your portal.

Step 2: Download, print and fill in the rapid unload sign and place it on your car’s dashboard for move-in day.

Step 3: Be sure to complete online check-in BEFORE getting in the rapid unload line.

Step 4: Use the map below to locate your hall using the color key. Enter through the designated entrance and follow the specified path to reach your Rapid Unload Zone efficiently.

Step 5: When you arrive at your designated Rapid Unload Zone, you are allowed two moving carts at a time. After unloading, someone must move the car to Lots 4 or 5 and then walk back to help with unpacking.

Step 6: Pick up your key at the front desk by showing your online check-in confirmation. Take your move-in carts and belongings to your room and unload quickly. Note that you only have 20 minutes with the move-in cart, as we have a limited number and need to make it available for the next resident.

Students will be provided a welcome package, which includes Resident Assistants contacts and virtual floor meeting information.
