Day of Check-in
Before arriving on campus, please complete the Online Check-In:
Disable pop-up blockers, in your phone settings, for the housing portal.
- Go to my.fiu.edu
- Click Student Tools
- Click Student Housing
- Click Housing at MMC
- Select Fall Check-in
Once this is completed, the student should show the confirmation at the front desk to receive their key. This will also activate their OneCard, allowing them to swipe into their assigned building and the entry door to their unit.
Step-by-step Move-in Process
- Step 1: Please read the Welcome Book you received in the mail. It contains crucial details about your assigned move-in date and time, room assignment, campus map, and more. If you didn’t receive a Welcome Book, don’t worry—you can find your assignment information on your portal.
- Step 2: Place the rapid unload pass from the Welcome Book on your car’s dashboard for move-in day. If you don’t have a rapid unload pass, one will be provided at the first checkpoint tent.
- Step 3: Be sure to complete online check-in BEFORE getting in the rapid unload line.
- Step 4: Use the map in your Welcome Book or the one downloaded from the housing website to locate your hall using the color key. Enter through the designated entrance and follow the specified path to reach your Rapid Unload Zone efficiently.
- Step 5: When you arrive at your designated Rapid Unload Zone, remember that you are allowed two moving carts at a time. Volunteers will assist with unloading. After unloading, someone must move the car to the designated parking zone in Lots 4 or 5 and then walk back to help with unpacking.
- Step 6: Pick up your key at the front desk by showing your online check-in confirmation. Take your move-in carts and belongings to your room and unload quickly. Note that you only have 20 minutes with the move-in cart, as we have a limited number and need to make it available for the next resident.
Students will be provided a welcome package, which includes Resident Assistants contacts and virtual floor meeting information.
