Residence Hall Association (RHA)
What is RHA?
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) at Florida International University serves as the coordinating body among the Residence Halls and voice of the on-campus student population. RHA assists the Department of Housing and Residential Experience in fostering the educational and social pursuit of a diverse student population and represents them to the community at large. RHA offers unique opportunities for student growth and development, as well as leadership experiences through programming and other student-related activities. All students who live on campus at FIU-MMC are automatically considered RHA members and are encouraged to get involved!

National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)
What is the Golden Panther Chapter of NRHH?
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is the only national organization that exclusively recognizes leaders within residence halls and is a honor society for students living in on-campus housing. It is also considered the recognition branch for the national student housing organization known as the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Inc. (or NACURH). The Golden Panther Chapter of NRHH, housed at FIU, serves to give local, regional, and national recognition to students making outstanding contributions to the campus and residence halls. NRHH is driven by the overarching values of recognition and service.

Hall/Community Council
What is the role of Hall Councils with HRE?
Hall Councils consist of student leaders who represent the interests of the students in their respective residential area. The Hall Council represents the voice of the residents of its community, advocates for their needs, and provides student input. Hall Councils facilitate and support quality programs and service events for the residents in the building. They also provide residents with opportunities for leadership development. All students who live on campus are considered RHA members and are encouraged to get involved.
Hall Councils help staff implement the mission and vision of Housing and Residential Experience. Through involvement in Hall Councils, students learn how to be active members of a community, how to advocate for themselves and others, and how to affect change in their community. They develop leadership skills, gain a sense of belonging and importance, grow personally, and learn about self-authorship. Hall Councils can be an essential tool in teaching students how to become future engaged citizens and leaders.
For more information on how to join your Hall Council, please contact your Assistant Residential Experience Coordinator (AREC) directly or the RHA email address rha@fiu.edu.
