Students in the residence halls are expected to abide by all policies as stated in the FIU Student Code Of Conduct. All residents should review the section on Housing & Residential Life before and during their stay in on-campus housing. Not adhering to student codes of conduct may also result in a fee.
Residents are responsible for keeping their own rooms clean in order to discourage pests, mold, bacterial growth, and other health and safety hazards. This includes:
- Disposing of trash in designated areas
- Sorting recyclables and placing them in designated recycling containers outside each building
- Cleaning up after yourself if you become ill
- Sweeping debris into trash cans, not hallways
Cleaning your room regularly. Work out a room-cleaning schedule that satisfies both you and your roommates. Residents who cannot maintain their space in a manner deemed appropriate by university staff may be charged by Housing Facilities for cleaning performed by staff in a unit.
Residents must make housing payments and fees in a timely manner or face account holds, late fees, and other consequences as outlined in your housing agreement. For more on payment requirements, see the Payment and Refund Policy.
