Themed Communities

Finding your niche on a large campus can be challenging. Theme Communities offer you the benefit of living with others who share your interests or major. When applying for housing, select which community you're interested in. The selection committees will then begin placing students into communities. Space is limited and some communities have specific requirements for participation. Residents do not need to complete an application for the Honors College @ Parkview Hall  community, but they do need to be a student in the Honors College.

  • Honors College @ Parkview (upper division)

    FIU faculty and Residential Experience staff work together to provide a special experience for Honors Students, including various community service projects, study group sessions, and a variety of workshops and social programs unique to the Honors College.

    Mission:

    The mission of Honors College @ Parkview is to create an environment that challenges and supports Honors College residents to explore their interests and integrate meaningful academic and co-curricular experiences into their educational journey.

    First-year resident registered in the Honors College.

    Benefits

    Various lectures geared towards the honors community, opportunities to acquire Honors Points from community programs and events, impromptu study group sessions, and social and educational programs geared to Honors students.

  • Pride Community

    The Department of Housing and Residential Experience at Florida International University is proud to present the Pride Communities. These communities will allow students who self-identify as members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their allies to live in a safe and affirming environment that will allow them to express their gender identity or sexual orientation while being respected.

    Mission:

    The mission of the Pride Communities is to show all students from these marginalized populations that FIU welcomes them while providing an environment to foster their growth.
